Téa Cooper tempts us to the limit. I’ve taken a leap with Lily and now I’m looking for freedom with Matilda. I’m not protesting about the protea boys either because I’m up for a tree change. Add a passionfruit cocktail and a bit of poetry - and I’m on a winning streak.
(Spot the titles of Tea’s six books!)
Take it away Téa:
Are there cowboys or country manors in any of your stories?
Yes I have cowboys! (Yay!) I wasn’t aware I had cowboys I thought I had bushrangers but apparently by default bushrangers in the US are cowboys! I’m happy to say that my darling Thomas Roscomon the divine bushranger hero in Lily’s Leap is officially a cowboy.
I’m so happy for you! Your own cowboy - surely a dream come true.
Will you tell us about yourself and what genre(s) you love writing?
I write contemporary and historical romance – always Australian, to date anyway. I started with contemporary but I was hijacked by the local Historical Society and found myself doing museum duty…and so Lily’s Leap was born…set in Wollombi my home “town” (more of a village really but it was gazetted as a town in the nineteenth century and nothing much has changed around here since then).
One day when I was doing “Museum duty” I came across the plans for one of the oldest houses in the area and Matilda just leapt onto my computer - and the rest as they say is history!
What writing project did you put aside to answer these questions?
Absolutely none! (Seriously?) I have just finished 50ks30days so I have put my latest story aside for a week or two to let
it settle before I let the evil internal editor loose on it. (Ah ha!)
What are books for?
Escape! (Nice promo!!)
Great promo Téa! (We share a publisher - Escape Publishing)
Will you name one entity you feel supported you outside of family members?
Without a doubt Poppy the Rottweiler! She is my constant companion and a wonderful sounding board. As long as I have treats on my desk she agrees to every plot change, every character and every conflict – she is so good for my self-esteem!
Do you see writing as a career?
Writing has always been a part of my life and a part of my various careers but fiction writing? No, I didn’t see it as
career. It was something I wanted to do but doubted I ever would. It is beginning to feel as though it might be a career and that’s something I am very excited about.
Looking at all six book covers, I’d hazard a guess that Téa’s on the right track.
An unconventional woman clashes with colonial society in this spicy and sweet Australian-set historical romance.
His carefree bachelor days over, Christopher Matcham returns to Sydney to take responsibility for his mother, two stepsisters, and the family property. Fortune smiles on him when he is introduced to Matilda Sweet, a woman in need of work. Though unusual, Christopher senses that her fresh ideals and positive outlook can only benefit his sisters, so he hires her as a companion.
By the time they arrive at Christopher’s family home, the two are fast friends. But Matilda’s unorthodox ways and her convict heritage make her a second class citizen to the family. Christopher has responsibilities, and they include an
advantageous match. A breeches-wearing, fish-pond-swimming, plain-talking convict’s daughter will never fit in. After all, romance is a luxury the upper classes cannot afford…
Born into privileged society, Lilibeth Dungarven finds herself married, widowed, and much to her distress, back under her father’s rule, all before her twenty-first birthday. But this feisty and independent young woman has a dream: she is
determined to breed the perfect racehorse and restore the family’s flagging fortunes.
When the devastatingly attractive Captain Tom and his mismatched band of bushrangers stumble across a mob of the best horses they’ve ever seen, and the daughter of the famed Dungarven stud, they know their fortunes have changed. Their catch is worth a king’s ransom. Surely it can’t be too difficult to contain this beautiful young woman with violet eyes for seven days?
Thank you Téa and Poppy the rotty for popping in to the country manor. Wishing you happy sales for your new release Matilda's Freedom.
