It’s Golf, But Not As You Know It!
One woman’s personal struggle to regain her mojo on a Busselton beach.
When Jennifer Gates drives to Sea Breeze Golf Club to kick off date-night with her boyfriend, the last thing she expects is to find Golf-Pro Jack giving one of his lady students a private—and very personal—lesson in bunker-play.
Lucky for Jenn, her best friend gives her the keys to the Culhane family’s beach shack on the white-pepper shores of Western Australia’s Geographe Bay. Jenn hopes a weekend on the coast with her young son will give her the space she needs to rebuild her confidence after Jack’s betrayal.
But she’s not the only person seeking sanctuary by the sea. Brayden Culhane is there too, and Jenn can’t look at Brayden without remembering the tequila-flavoured kiss they shared on the shack steps years ago.
As long-buried feelings are rekindled, and a friendship is renewed, Jenn knows it is more than lazy summer days bringing her mojo back. Romantic sunsets, ice-cold beers and the odd round of golf can only go so far, because this time, trusting Brayden with her heart won’t be enough. Jenn must learn to trust her body, too.
♥ Sounds good, doesn't it? I've read it and can tell you wholeheartedly - it is a fantastic read.
Now, let's talk sport for a minute. Just for a minute though, because you see, sport and Jennie Jones simply don’t connect. We see each other differently. Sport says – go on, get jogging/rowing/push-upping/throwing and I say, “That all sounds lovely, but can I go to the beach instead? You see, I've got this book I'm desperate to read for the second time..."
Get the picture?
But I don’t mind watching from the sidelines when a player struts his or – in this case her – stuff. Which is exactly what I’m doing today. I’m watching author Lily Malone walk the walk as she hops with agility and dexterity from one Lily-pad blog to another introducing her smashing story Fairway to Heaven to the reader's world.
Lily knows how to swing, bat, glide and surf the writing world with pizzazz. She’s already proved herself worthy with two published novels, His Brand of Beautiful with Escape Publishing (my publisher too) and her first self-published book The Goodbye Ride. I'm betting Fairway to Heaven will knock your sports socks off and rock your romantic heart all the way to the nineteenth hole. (That's the bar, by the way. Didn't expect me to know that, did you, Lily?)
With Fairway to Heaven I think readers are going to be hooked from paragraph one. I was, and I was nowhere near a bar when I read it.
So I’ll just relax back on my sun-lounger and listen to the gentle bobbing of the surf hitting the Busselton shore while I read Fairway to Heaven all over again.
But while I'm here, I may just take the occasional peek at the ... erm ... sporty looking guys.
Maybe persuade one of them to play a little beach golf with me later.
(What do you mean there's no such sport as beach golf, Lily? See picture below - my ideal golf course: small -
and in close proximity to sand and ocean which means there's probably a bar around too.)
And later? Well - who knows what might happen later. I'm not telling. You'll have to read the book. ♥
